Italian Cardinal Says That if Catholics Don’t Like Francis, They Can Become Protestant

'There are too many people talking about the Pope,' said Cardinal Bassetti, President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, when he met media representatives.

Edit: I’d have thought approving of this Pope was something Protestants were likely to do. Would Protestants welcome traditionalist Catholics like they welcome unrepentant sodomites?

"If someone does not like the Pope, he should be allowed to say it because he can go other ways," said Gualtiero Cardinal Bassetti, President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, during a meeting with media representatives in Perugia on January 25.

"There are too many people talking about the Pope," Bassetti said of the growing discontent with Pope Francis among Catholics.  He told someone to go to the Protestants if he didn't like the Catholic Church.  They would have neither a pope nor a bishop.  Everyone can make their own decisions.”  "Enough complaining.  It doesn't help anyway,” he said.

Cardinal Bassetti (77) is Archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve (Italy).  Pope Francis made him cardinal in 2014.  He has been the President of the Italian Episcopal Conference since 2017.

It is not clear who Bassetti (archive photo) specifically meant by his outburst described by Italian media.  Il Messaggero suspected that the displeasure of many Italians with Pope Francis' stance on immigration could have triggered the cardinal's acrimony.  At the media meeting, Bassetti presented the program for the Mediterranean initiative "Mediterranean: Border of Peace" organized by the Italian Episcopal Conference, which will take place in Bari from September 19 to 23

"Moderate Bergoglian" New President of the Italian Bishops' Conference -- Cardinal Bassetti

The outgoing Cardinal Bagnasco and newcomer, Cardinal Bassetti
(Rome) The Italian Episcopal Conference has great weight in the world church and a new President is Gualtiero Cardinal Bassetti, the Archbishop of Perugia. He replaces Angelo Cardinal Bagnasco, Archbishop of Genoa, in this function. The new President Bassetti is almost a year older than the outgoing Bagnasco. For the first time the President was appointed according to the change of the statutes by Pope Francis. Thus the lot fell on the most moderate among the "Bergoglianians," who is considered a "friend" of the pope.
"By hearing the news of my appointment as the President of the Italian Bishops' Conference, my first thoughts are those of gratitude to the Holy Father for the courage he has shown to give me this responsibility at the twilight of my life. It is really a sign that he believes in the ability of the ancients to be able to dream ... "
With these words begins the first public statement of Cardinal Bassetti as the new president of the Italian Bishops' Conference. On the 7th of April the Cardinal completed his 75th year. Where some bishops, including archbishops, even in the best of health, are retired by Francis, like Archbishop Luigi Negri of Ferrara, while others [less able and orthodox] are extended in office. With Francis, much is a question of the content, but also of personal sympathies, as it is described in Rome.
In his first statement, the Cardinal also emphasized that he wanted to be "in the service of the last", the "poorest" and those "thrown away by the world."

Cardinal Bassetti enjoys the personal sympathy of the pope

Gualtiero Bassetti was born in 1942 in Tuscany. In 1966 he received priestly ordination and was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Florence. After parish work and schooling, Cardinal Benelli appointed him as rector of the archbishop's seminary in 1979. Under Benelli's successor, Cardinal Piovanelli, he became Vicar General of the Archdiocese in 1992.

Cardinal Bassetti, "friend" of the Pope

In 1994 Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Massa Marittima and in 1998 Bishop of Arezzo. He is known in Italy during 2008 for his commitment to the workers of the Buitoni factory of Sansepolcro, who were threatened with dismissal because of the sale of Nestlé to Newlat. Pope Benedict XVI promoted him to the archdiocese of Perugia in 2009 and gave him the pallium. Since 2009 he was deputy president of the bishops' conference.
Pope Francis summoned him as a member of the Congregation for the Bishops in Autumn of 2013 , created him as a cardinal in February 2014 and called him into the Congregation of Clergy.
While important bishops' seats such as Venice went empty, Archbishop Bassetti was elevated to Cardinal by Francis, which indicated a special papal sympathy. In 2016 Francis commissioned the Cardinal to formulate the meditations for the Via Crucis at the Colosseum.
At the same time, Bassetti belongs to those bishops, who, following the Motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, also celebrated Holy Mass in the traditional form of the Roman Rite. This was certainly true in 2011 when Benedict XVI, reigned.

From the "Sirian" Bagnasco to the "Bergoglian Bassetti"

Cardinal Bagnasco, whom Bassetti replaces, had been the president since 2007. Bagnasco is not only a successor of Cardinal Giuseppe Siri as Archbishop of Genoa, but is also considered to be his pupil. For this reason, Benedict XVI put him at the top of the Episcopal Conference.
The papal appointment is subject to a special clause: Article 26 of the Statutes. While the Bishops' Conferences around the world choose their presidents themselves, there are two exceptions. One is Belgium, the other is Italy. In Belgium, the respective Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels and the Primate of the country is also automatically president of the bishops' conference. Since the Pope is also Bishop of Rome, and therefore, head of the Bishop's Conference, he is automatically its president. Just as the Pope does not personally fulfill his duties as Bishop of Rome, but appoints a cardinal vicar, he also appoints a representative, who presides for him in the bishops' conference.
With the election of Pope Francis, it was soon clear that the spiritual consensus between Cardinal Bagnasco and Pope Benedict XVI. was no longer a given. Francis had Bagnasco in office, but disempowered him. The Pope can also appoint the Secretary-General of the Episcopal Conference. Francis invoked Bishop Nunzio Galantino, who since then has been the leading man in the Episcopal Conference and will probably remain.

The choice of a trio

In 2014, Pope Francis Francis had changed the statutes of the bishops' conference, which had now come to the fore for the first time. According to the new regulation, the Episcopal Conference now has to submit to the Pope, by an absolute majority, a proposal of three, from which he determines his legates.

Holy Mass in Immemorial Rite (2011)

On May 22, the Bishops' Conference began its Spring Conference. It included more than 200 bishops. A good third of it was already appointed by Francis. This shift in the axis was also reflected in yesterday's three-stroke rally. One thing was already clear in advance that because of the special situation, no candidate could be proposed to the pope and the actual president who did not meet his expectations.
All three of the three candidates who were elected yesterday were therefore "Bergoglians". Beside Bassetti it was the Bishop of Novara, Franco Giulio Brambilla, and the Bishop of Agrigento, Cardinal Francesco Montenegro. Like Bassetti, Montenegro too had been elevated to Cardinal by Francis.
In the trio Bassetti was the most appropriate "Bergoglian". This is also the reason why he received the most votes from the bishops. In the third ballot to the first ballot, in which only the two most voted were left, he won 134 votes against Brambilla, who came in with 86 votes. Already in the first two polls were Bassetti, Brambilla and Montenegro above all others.
Bassetti was at the top of the three-man suggestion to the Pope yesterday. Francis appointed him to be the new president of the episcopal conference. This morning Cardinal Bagnasco announced the papal decision after the morning Mass to the bishops.

Broadcaster for Italian Bishops' Conference Advertise for Aberrosexuality -- Orgies in Rome Seminaries

TV2000, the Broadcaster of the Catholic Bishops (the photo
is from a broadcast of June 6th)
(Rome) A scandal beyond compare took place on June 6 at TV2000, the television station of the Italian Bishops' Conference CEI.  During the broadcast "Il diario di Papa Francesco" (The Diary of Pope Francis) a "Christian LGBT" appeared as a guest. The inappropriate label, which wants to suggest  a reconciliation of Christianity and homosexuality, was used for the first time in early May in  Avvenire, the daily newspaper of the Italian Bishops' Conference. "The concept of choice is as incorrect as if the newspaper of the bishops were written by Christian abortionists'" said Nuova Bussola Quotidiana (NBQ). "The concept of choice is an indicator of the great doctrinal and existential confusion in the Church."

TV2000 promotes homosexuality and refers to "Amoris laetitia"

Three self-proclaimed Catholics of the group "Ponti sospesi" (Suspension Bridges) were invited into the studio. The group includes homosexuals who claim to be Christian, but want to live in open contradiction to the Christian faith. It's a contradiction that some Church circles obviously want to overcome by changing the Doctrine of the Faith. The group works closely with several of the "historic" Protestant churches in Italy, like the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Waldensians (Calvinists).
The figure responsible for the media of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) is none other than Bishop Nunzio Galatino, the Secretary-General appointed by Pope Francis to CEI and close confidant of the Pope. The "Christian LGBT" not only feels attracted to persons of the same sex, but are practicing homosexuals and make the claim that the Church has to adapt their lifestyle, since "Love is Love".

"God does everything" - embezzlement of Church teaching

Among the guests were also a nun were without religious habit and a priest, both "convinced" of the fact that God, "because he loves us", accepts  all that people do. In this blithe manner,  homosexuality was declared "acceptable" on the television channel of the Catholic bishops of Italy  in just 20 minutes. The change in direction of 180 degrees was justified by the Apostolic Letter Amoris laetitia of Pope Francis.  For this purpose, paragraph 250 was quoted as saying: "to ensssure a respectful assistance, so that those who show homosexual tendency can get the necessary help in order to understand the will of God in their lives and to fulfill it completely."
Not a word of the Church's teaching was  mentioned, what is the will of God when it comes to homosexuality, which is referred to in Scripture as "blatant sin." Some theologians go so far as to say that because of the choice of words of Scripture  that it is the worse among the deadly sins in God's eyes, because it is a direct attack against the divine order that God's nature is based.

Colleen Bayer defends Catholic doctrine and criticized Cardinal Schönborn

Colleen Bayer with Cardinal Burke

While the television station of the bishops courted homosexuality, embezzling Church doctrine to accomplish this, and the resulting darkening existential drama, there rose simultaneously in Rome a courageous voice in defense of  doctrine, which is entrusted to the Church by revelation and taught by it for 2000 years, Colleen Bayer, Chair of Family Life International from New Zealand said in a lecture at the same  time on June 6, which is used as video recording on the Internet, some episodes that have to do with the gender ideology and homosexuality.
Bayer began with a critique of Vienna's Archbishop Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, who presented Amoris laetitia presented on April 8, to the world public. This had been a "huge mistake" of Cardinal, to speak of "positive elements" in the context of homosexuality. This erroneous view had been aired by the Cardinal already in an interview with the Jesuit magazine Civilta Cattolic in 2015 when he said: "It is not for the Church to look in the bedroom in the first place, but in the dining room." Such arbitrary and unrealistic statements were "rubbish , pure trash," said Bayer. "A priest friend of ours lost his life because of what happened in the bedroom. Please pray for his soul."

Existential Drama - gay orgies among Roman seminarians

The woman then told the story of a young Anglican who converted to Catholicism in Rome entered a seminary after he told his superiors about his concerns and efforts, what his interpersonal relationships were, and that he was concerned because he felt attracted to men. Nevertheless, he was ordained a priest and sent to New Zealand five years of the priesthood where he was unable to overcome his mental turmoil and his desires.
At that time, the priest learned of  the Bayer couple, confided in them and asked for their help.
"He told us, 'You do not know what we have done in Rome on Friday night. We met ... ', and they did do what homosexuals do. "On this occasion," he revealed to us the Roman parties on Friday evening with other seminarians "who" ended in homosexual orgies."
At this moment you have the revelation "almost a broken heart," said Bayer. "Until then, I thought that we all worship God in the Church under the dome of Rome, and a trip to Rome is a journey home. To learn that such things happen in the seminaries of this city ... "
The young, desperate priest revealed "the devastation, the dirt and things that have happened that are terrible ..." Bayer then inquired of those responsible who take such psychically torn people into the seminaries, and described the fears of the young convert and Priest of the inner contradiction of his life which eventually led to suicide.
"How in God's name could such a thing happen under the dome of Rome? So how can a Cardinal of Rome maintain something like this?"
People with a homosexual inclination have an identity problem, which could be an existential drama for them. They must be helped to find their identity. They should not be encouraged to fall into a perversity.

Existential Drama - Violent lesbian relationship

Bayer reported then about a pregnant girl who was abused by  her feminist, pro-abortion "fiance". The sexual relationship between the two women had been violent and possessive: "When I saw the body of Jackie,  my heart wept. She was covered with scars and fresh cuts and other injuries. Terrible violence was done to her in her life in a terrible manner." That was not done independently of the sex of the partner.
Bayer came to the conclusion that the doctrine entrusted by Christ to the Church that warns against homosexuality and  rejects this, is more human, honest and compassionate than any arbitrary, ideological or some stirred up worldly sauce, which is passed off as an alleged "love of God."  It is enough to read Luca Di Tolve, who after his conversion and a Christian psychotherapy, finally found his true destination in love for a woman.
In his book "I was gay. I Found Myself in Medjugorje",   Di Tolve  described the compulsive drive for satisfaction, but unfulfilling nature of homosexual relationships, the drifting into despair: "The deep motivation that drives  homosexual behavior is always the same: the search for the male traits, which can not be expressed in one's self. "His own sex could not unfold properly in himself for some reason.. Homosexuals, therefore, have a broken nature. "A man and a woman seen in the difference  how much they complement each other to form the foundation of a family, a whole. Two men or two women can never reach this supplement and perfection. A mature man and a mature woman do not remain at the level of a mere impulse for satisfaction like immature teenagers who don't grow up.

Christ and the Church Denounce Every Lie, to combat delusions

"Therefore," said Di Tolve, "I could never find peace in sex with men." He found the strength to seek a way out, and went in search of masculinity in itself, rather than seek his own in other ,"So I found my identity. With my identity and therefore with myself at peace, I was able to leave homosexuality behind me and I finally engage in the opposite sex and got to know my wife."
"Christ and the Church have a great heart's desire," says Bayer, "that every lie, the delusions, are fought with courage and strength."
It seems that the current penetration of homosexuality in the Church, has penetrated through fifth columns and weak resistance, has shown to be true what the Blessed Mother said in 1995 in Civitavecchia, where a statue of Mary cries blood. The phenomenon is maintained by the competent Bishop Girolamo Grillo for real. An official decision by the Catholic Church is still outstanding. The Mother of God had said at the time:
"My children, the darkness of Satan has darkened the world and also darkens the Church of God. In Rome, the darkness sets more and more about the rock that  my son Jesus left to build up his children, to educate and to grow spiritually. "
Given the apostasy, says Bayer, "one has to be conscious of the claws of Satan and seek God's hands and hold them" so that God "can us lead out of the swamp" by "men and women of God" and by "orthodoxy".

Bruno Forte Defeated After Synod in Bishops' Conference

Archbishop Bruno Forte: Defeated in
Bishops' Conference
(Rome) The Italian Episcopal Conference has elected a new Vice President last November 11th. It was a surprise, at least for Archbishop Bruno Forte, the author of the homophilic parts of the controversial interim report of the Synod of Bishops on the Family.
The president of the Italian Episcopal Conference is  the Pope himself, but he does not exercise this function, but a person of his confidence. The Office is still held by Archbishop Angelo Cardinal Bagnasco of Genoa, whom Benedict XVI. appointed. However, the new strong man is Bishop Nunzio Galatino, whom Pope Francis unexpectedly appointed as the new Secretary-General on 23 December 2013. So far, the Secretary General was appointed on the proposal of the President. Cardinal Bagnasco found out about it from the media.

Archbishop Bruno Forte "for all" and Homosexuals

The Vice President is elected by the General Assembly of the Bishops' Conference, however. Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto, a pupil of Carlo Maria Cardinal Martini, whom Pope Francis designated to the Special Secretary of the Synod of Bishops on the family, was a candidate for this office. Archbishop Forte made under Benedict XVI. a stubborn resistance to an improved translation of the words of consecration pro multis. Instead of "for all" which was used with the introduction of the vernacular,  "for many" was to be used as truer in its theological dimension. The new Missal is in Italian but not yet published.
At the Synod of Bishops, Archbishop Forte was a significant author of the controversial Relatio post disceptationem, around which there has been intense debate within and outside the Synod Hall. Fortes authorship was attributed by relator Cardinal Erdo especially the most controversial passages on homosexuality. The paragraph in question was finally rejected in a revised version of the synod.

The "duel" in the Bishops' Conference

The Archbishop was not so very popular. Besides Forte, Bishop Meini of Fiesole ran for the office of  Vice President. For the more famous Forte, the "duel" should have been  a walk. Especially since it is known that he is in the favor of Pope Francis.  No bishop could seriously doubt that what Forte had written in the interim and final report of the Synod, was not approved by the Pope. Nevertheless, it was a different outcome. In the first ballot no candidate reached the intended quorum. In the runoff election the more famous Forte was being sidelined was  abundantly clear. Only 60 votes were cast for the bustling Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto, but 140 for Bishop Mario Meini of Fiesole. Only 30 per cent for Forte, 70 percent for his challenger but are a smooth result.
Had the Archbishop wanted to get the office of Vice President and with the favor of the Pope to return as the successor of Cardinal Bagnasco's  position, the attempt backfired. The electoral defeat makes his papal appointment as chairman of the Bishops' Conference almost impossible .

Bishop of Fiesole Meini

Bishop Meini, with 68 years, is   three years older than Archbishop Forte from Tuscany, where he is also a bishop. He earned his doctorate at the Gregorian University in Rome. The ordination he received in 1971 for his home diocese of Volterra. In 1996 John Paul II appointed him  bishop of the Diocese of Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello. In 2010  Benedict XVI appointed him as bishop of the larger Diocese of Fiesole, near Florence.
It is clear  that Bishop Meini is responsible for the family in the Bishops' Conference of Tuscany. He published in 2005, a remarkable letter to his priests under the title Ut Carne carnem liberans ...

Bishop Galantino: The Prelates, For Whom Unborn Children Are Just a Millstone Around the Neck

Bishop Galantino: Handpicked "Man of the Pope"
in Italy's Church Has bergolian difficulties
with the Unborn
(Rome) The Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Italy distanced himself from the defense of life. Therefore, he was heavily criticized, and is now attempting a self-pitying correction, which was in reality a criticism of his critics. It's another signal as to how annoying some prelates find  the struggle for life, when John Paul II led the struggle to the last and Benedict XVI. declared it a non-negotiable principle.  But then came Pope Francis.
Bishop Nunzio Galatino Cassano all'Jonio made a brilliant career move under Pope Francis, however, he became known simultaneously in a controversial, perhaps scandalous manner. Until his discovery by Pope Francis, the Bishop was completely unknown to the world outside of Calabria. As bishop, he stands at the head of an old dwarf diocese, as they actually exist only  for historical reasons only in Italy. The new pope made unilaterally the Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference at the end of 2013. Although Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco is still chairman, the real "man of the Pope" has been Msgr Galantino ever since.
On May 12, the Bishop gave an interview in which he distanced himself from the strange way he addressed pro-lifers  who perform prayer vigils in front of the modern death camps and there pray the rosary for the protection of life and for an end to abortion (see separate report Bergoglio Effect: Secretary of the Episcopal Conference Distancing Himself From Pro-Lifers  ). It's not a random statement, but a deliberate signal to the dominant forces for the killing of unborn children as a "right", to which you must not be challenged.

Pontifical Galatino

The interview was made in Catholic circles, but especially crated among life advocates an international sensation. It fit into a series with a no less irritating interview, that Pope Francis gave in September 2013 for the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica. The head of the church said that  Catholics  were "obsessed" with the right to life and that one can "not always" speak out about issues such as abortion  (see separate report And he wept over his Pope - Pope Francis is silent on abortion and homosexuality, and finds it a good thing ). The irritations were more violent, as the Catholic Church is the last major, global institution that still opposes the abortion dictate, and the popes have raised their voices courageously against the murder spree charged from the Encyclical Humanae Vitae to Pope Benedict XVI. Ten months had to pass and  ever stronger murmurings rose within the Church, till Pope Francis for the first time brought the word "abortion" in his mouth in January 2014 (see separate report "The Horror of Abortion" - Francis Pope calls abortion for the first time by name ).

All Just a Misunderstanding on Which the Media are to Blame?

Now  Bishop Galatino laments in a recent interview for the monthly magazine  Sempre, the fierce criticism that hit him after his first interview. The Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference saw no need for a correction of his first interviews. The criticism he described as "aggression, which in reality hurt me a little." Monsignor Galatino is of the opinion that it had all been a misunderstanding which goes back to an instrumentalization by the media. "The said interview was developed in a specific context: the influence of social communications. On this occasion I warned for vigilance, especially with regard to television, where images are used only to support one's own message. I gave the example to those who then only blank faces of those show who pray the Rosary against abortion in front of clinics. It was a method of the media, who don't  just want to invalidate the rosary prayed in front of the clinics  but also the large and unusual movement that stands behind it."  According to Bishop Galatino he wanted to warn you to be vigilant against such media manipulation.

From the "Malice" of the Rosary

The reason for the misunderstanding  was that his statement was taken out of context. "Sometimes the representative of certain of our movements don't read the interview completely, but only the titles and headlines of the media, who of course, have every interest to write something sensational and create problems. So it came to 10,000 tweets and 15,000 Facebook posts "Against Bishop Galantino, who showed himself to be  " impressed"  by this wave of criticism from within the ranks to dismiss the "malice of certain people who claim to pray the Rosary."  It is  "worrying to know that someone who prays the rosary, then is able to express himself in such tones and with such verbal aggression." Pro-Lifers shake their heads. Bishop Galantino has thus proven just one more time to have little idea of the reality of war, which is against under way against the unborn children worldwide, and the protection of life, about which he speaks, however.
Pope Francis seems  to be satisfied with the thesis of this "misunderstanding" at any rate. This past June 21st he paid Bishop Galantino and his mini-diocese in Calabria a visit. To see an homage, which was unanimously interpreted by observers as a signal to the Italian Bishops for Bishop Galatino as the new powerful man in Italy's Church (see separate report A question of priorities - Corpus Christi procession without Pope Francis ).

What Exactly Had  The Secretary-General Said on May 12?

Quotidiano Nazionale: In recent years, the Bishops' Conference established itself  (life, family, education) for the non-negotiable values. The Pope does not have this concept at heart. Do you not also?
Bishop Galantino: When we think of the sanctity of life. In the past, we have focused exclusively on a no to abortion and euthanasia. This goes not, in between there comes to the existence, develops. I do not identify myself with the motionless faces of those who pray the rosary in front of  clinics, where abortions are carried out, but with those youth who reject this method and fight for better quality of life for the people of their rights to health and work.
In the new interview, Bishop Galatino spoke of the "influence of the media" and "instrumentalization by the media." In the original there is nothing of the sort, but a whole precise question to which the bishop replied which was just as clearly irritating.
Bishop Galantino has tried an old game, where the blame is always pushed to the journalists. An attempt that often succeeds in this particular case, however, as the bishop has neither denied up until today his former statement  nor demanded a rectification of the daily newspaper. A substantive correction of his position would offer more suitable for the  "man of the Pope" in the Italian Episcopal Conference. Above all, it would  provide the only correct answer to doubts and criticism. Therefore, Pro-Lifers believe that Bishop Galantino has exactly said  is in the interview: A distancing from  the right to life scene that is seen by some prelates as just a more than annoying millstone that impedes an arrangement with the Zeitgeist.
Sometimes the attempts to plug a hole are worse than the hole itself

Bergolio-Effect: Secretary of the Italian Bishop's Conference Betrays Pro-Lifers for Secular Approval

(Rome) The appointed  new Secretary Generaly of the Italian Episcopal Conference hand picked by Pope Francis, Bishop Nunzio Galatino of Cassano  all'Jonio flattered the abortion lobby and distanced himself from Pro-Lifers in an interview on Monday. "I do not identify myself with the motionless faces of those who pray the rosary in front of the clinics that perform abortions."  We waited for a denial for 24 hours, says the editor of the Catholic website Nuova Bussola Quotidiana . But this denial did not come. "We have to accept it. This statement, which discloses a lack of humanity, one would expect only from the worst secularists, but it really comes from Monsignor Galantino."
The  secretary hand picked by Pope Francis  and since then practically the most powerful man in the Italian Episcopal Conference  is revealing a  "clerical arrogance"  which speaks of  "compassion" (for the women)   and contempt  for ( neighbors) life," said Riccardo Cascioli.
Pope Francis with Bishop Galantino
The governor of the Pope in Italy distances himself not only from the prayerful Pro-Lifers in front of the abortion clinics that already save hundreds of children from certain death and as many women, who they were able to keep  from making the biggest mistake of their lives. In the interview he kept a  distance from the fundamental right to life. "We have concentrated solely on a no to abortion and euthanasia in the past," said Galantino, but forget that "it comes into  existence, develops."  Therefore, an end to the resistance on behalf of  innocents, an end to the resistance against euthanasia and especially an end to the Rosary before clinics. Instead, "better quality of life for the people in their right to health and work," said the secretary of the Bishops' Conference.
"Besides the fact that it already if is no 'right to health' but possibly a right to medical treatment, Galantino  constructs an opposition that goes in deadly manner to the detriment of the child," said Cascioli. But this would in any case be something almost all  could support and propagate. The Church is the only really serious hotbed of resistance to the brutality of "progress". Only an "abstract ideological point of view" can dilute the right to life and dissolve it into a "right to health" and in a "right to work". "The truth is that you no longer want to talk about a thing that has become as  politically troublesome  a thing as abortion," said Cascioli. Not coincidentally, "Msgr Galantino even seems to be afraid, because  he instead speaks of the 'termination of pregnancy'. and  'this pratice', when he means abortion."
Galantino thus is ultimately only following Pope Francis, who distanced himself in Civiltà Cattolica interview in September by commitment to the protection of life and the Pro-Lifers, whom he accused of "obsession."   No abortion lobbyist,  could have said it "better". How now then are the statements for the protection of life  by the Pope? He also avoids meticulously  calling  things by their name and with the distancing from the "non-negotiable values", he gave them to understand that the protection of life was good and right, but ultimately has no priority.
"In addition, I would like to know who  all the bishops and priests who have spoken in these years constantly on abortion and euthanasia have been. I must have been distracted, but I know of so few in the sense that I can list them.  When John Paul II and Benedict XVI. talked about it - but certainly not exclusively - it is because they had to oppose a Church that has completely lost the sense of the "Gospel of Life", as the statement of Galantino confirmed in a startling way," said Cascioli.
"It would be nice if the Secretary of the Bishops 'Conference would at least try to think about the words said by  Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta: 'The greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a direct war, a direct killing, it which is the direct murder by the hand of the mother herself. Because if a mother can kill her own child, then there is nothing that would prevent me from killing you, and keep you  from killing me."
The pressure to conform seems to dominate the bishops. The urge to conform, to belong to  the mainstream society  seems overwhelming. Today, no one wants someone who "judges", so there are also no standards, at least not universal Christian standards any more because the standards that the world presents  as authentic, contradict the teachings of Christ. "And who would even dare to pray in front of clinics where innocent children are killed, who will not only be left by their own bishops  in the lurch, that has been happening in Europe for years, but even insulted and offended. They are the same bishops, who call heathens to the pulpit, so that they can teach Christians. Because the only ones evaluated in this new, 'non-judgmental' view who are so condemned, are Catholics.

Anti-Kasper Front: From Brandmüller and Caffara Come De Paolis and Bassetti

(Vatican)  Kasper has been slowly forming resistance behind the lines.  This is according to Archbishop Carlo Cardinal Caffarra of Bologna in the newspaper Il Foglio and Cardinal Walter Brandmüller in the daily newspaper The Daily Mail, a third wearer of the Purple  has publicly and thoroughly taken a position on the issue of remarried divorcees. And he opposes himself against the theses of Cardinal Walter Kasper, who was the only speaker at the recent Cardinal consistory of February 20 and 21 at the request of the Pope. Kasper was therefore able to give his opinion from a privileged position.
A position that secured him a considerable advantage in the public debate.  Or would have had at least, if the historian Roberto de Mattei had not immediately countered him with a profound contradiction. Not coincidentally, it was the German Cardinal Brandmüller who publicly disagreed with the German Cardinal Kasper first among the purple hats. Everyone knows this and is disillusioned.

De Paolis' Detailed Polemic Against Walter Kasper

Now Cardinal Velasio De Paolis has taken up a feather to cross blades  with Kasper in the dispute. The well-known canon is Prefect Emeritus of the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See and was from the beginning, an apostolic delegate of the Legionaries of Christ.  The cardinal has expressed on several occasions his appreciation for Pope Francis.
De Paolis took advantage of this past March 27, the opening of the new judicial year at the church court of Umbria, to  challenge  Cardinal Kasper in the ring. The title of his speech was: "The Remarried Divorcees and the Sacraments of the Eucharist and of Penance" .
De Paolis counter reply is more extensive than   Kasper's paper  before the Cardinals. 40 pages  have been published in full by the church court on the Internet, the intention of the Cardinal of the Order of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo (CS)  also called the Calabrians,  is trying to set his brother back on track.

Support for De Paolis of Neocardinal Bassetti

"Moderator" of the church law of Umbria  is Archbishop Gualtiero Bassetti of Perugia, whom Pope Francis has made Deputy President of the Italian Bishops' Conference and a cardinal.  Archbishop Bassetti was not only the only resident Italian who has been created cardinal by Pope Francis. As Archbishop of Perugia he stands in front of a diocese whose bishop's throne is not connected in accordance with the Concordat, to  the dignity of Cardinal, like Venice and Turin, whose occupants,  however, have come up empty-handed.
It was Neocardinal Bassetti, whom De Paolis invited to give the opening speech. It was also Bassetti, in the ceremony gave the floor on March 27, De Paolis in advance and said that  De Paolis'  introductions, "are valuable, and very current  as well as very enriching for us."

"What is to be Said on the Question of Cardinal Kasper?"

Cardinal De Paolis  combined these theses of Kasper together to refute them: "What's to say about the question posed by Cardinal Kasper on February 21, 2014 in the Consistory?" According to Kasper the way of the Church is to balance between rigor and laxity, a way of repentance, which flows first in the sacrament of penance, and then in the sacrament of the Eucharist. Kasper had wondered if this way is feasible also for remarried divorcees and described conditions under which in his opinion it was possible. Kasper listed five conditions and formed them into questions  on whether the remarried divorcees communion even then could be refused if they fulfill these conditions. Whereat Kasper had clearly allowed to keep the admission to communion possible and desired.
Kasper posed his "opening",  as an exception that should not be a general rule. One limitation, however, seems to serve more for the enforcement of its goal to open to remarried divorcees access to communion. As an argument  the German Cardinal also claimed, again in the form of a question, whether the worst case could be averted, such as the loss of an entire generation, namely, the children of remarried divorcees. "Life is not just black and white, but many shades," said Kasper with a less original, but trendy commonplace.

"No Positive Response Possible"

Then Cardinal De Paolis rebutted: "Apart from  good intentions, it does not seem to be possible to answer positively  to this question. Apart from the various situations in which there are  remarried divorcees, all these situations, but the same problem is common: the inadmissibility of cohabitation, "more uxorio" between two people who are not connected to each other by a real marriage bond. The civil marriage is no marriage bond in reality. According to church doctrine, it has not even the semblance of a marriage, which is why the Church speaks of an attack against marriage. Given such a situation it is not clear how one divorced  could receive sacramental absolution to get access to the Eucharist. In order to justify access to the Eucharist for remarried divorcees, reasons are often cited, which have more the appearance of good nature and legitimacy."

Kasper's "Aberration" - "Misunderstood" Pastoral and Mercy

Among these "justifications"  Cardinal De Paolis described "pastoral" and "mercy." Against the   "misunderstandings"  associated with this, the cardinal takes his position ending with a pointed reference with the infamous comment by  Pope Francis, "who am I to judge".
"Often and with justification it is said  that we are not called to condemn the people. The judgement is in fact God's.  It's another thing though, to order to evaluate a completely different situation morally, to distinguish what is good and what is evil; to check whether or not something corresponds to the plan of God for man. This review is imperative. Given the different life situations, such as that of remarried divorcees, can and must say that we do not condemn, but to help. However, we can not confine ourselves not to condemn. We are called to assess the situation in the light of faith and the divine plan, the well-being of the family, the persons concerned and especially the law of God and His love. Otherwise, we run the risk of no longer being able to appreciate the law of God. What's more, almost to consider it an evil, since we put the blame for all evil in a law. Due to a certain representation of things it just seems as if it would make us feel better, if it were not for the law of the indissolubility of marriage. An aberration  that we can recognize in the mistakes in the way we think and argue."  This goes an excerpt from Cardinal De Paolis' rejection of Kasper's theses.
It is generally expected in Italy so that Pope Francis is going to appoint Cardinal Bassetti  soon as the new President of the Italian Episcopal Conference. Even his appointment as deputy chairman was seen as the disempowerment of the Chairman in Office of Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco.
The Vatican expert Sandro Magister is not presently of this opinion.  He assumes that Cardinal Bagnasco remains in office until the end of the regular term of office in 2017. Magister, says it is also that Bassetti  is aligned  in the group  resisting  Cardinal Kasper, because he called Cardinal De Paolis to Perugia and who already knew in advance his unambiguous rejection of Kasper-theses and approved of them, as is clear from his words in greeting and announcement of De Paolis.

The Last Pope-King -- Pope Bergolio’s “New Course” is Not Yet Deciphered

(Rome) "With Francis the papacy came into the shade. The light is all alone for him, the Pope. Not for the institution, but Sfor the person.” With these words, the Vatican expert Sandro Magister begins his recent article in the weekly magazine L'Espresso , the Italian Mirror for Double Saints last Sunday.
"From the Church canons he feels free. He feels himself free from the canonical norms. In just one year he has already suspended six times the ironclad rule that demands a new miracle before a blessed may be proclaimed a saint. John XXIII is the last of the six. Francis wanted at all costs that John Paul II should be canonized not on his own but balanced by another pope with a different profile, less combative, more merciful. "

Francis Wanted to Avoid the  Exclusive Canonization of John Paul II at all Costs

Last Sunday the double canonization was intended by Francis  because he ascended the Chair of Peter too late to slow down the canonization of John Paul II.  "The Congregation for the Causes of Saints, bent its knees his will and pretended it had asked Francis for an exception that was benevolnetly  granted immediately."
A simulated perversion of facts, which was accepted, thus, because the Pope demanded. "In addition Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, who still figures as president of the Italian episcopal conference, has asked Francis that it be he, the pope, who delivers the inaugural discourse to the plenary assembly of the bishops to be held in May, something no pontiff has ever done."

Francis Sets Will Through

At the Cardinal's request is what was said in the official press release, it  then came to the prompt readiness of the Holy Father, who announced to have harbored the same intention’. Really. For over a month we knew that Francis had already decided to make the speech.
Since he is pope, which is Italian Episcopal Conference solidifies and falls silent. Francis asked the Italian bishops that they notify him whether they want to continue to have the Pope as nominal president of the Bishops Conference or would like to choose these freely from their ranks, as in the other countries. In reality,  the Pope’s engagement  of the Italian Bishops' Conference is the living contradiction of the decentralization and “democratization” of the Church allegedly pursued by Jorge Mario Bergoglio.

Francis Holds the Italian Episcopal Conference More Firmly Than Previous Popes

Pope Francis has the Italian Bishops Conference more  firmly in his grasp  than all the popes before him. The real authority in the bishops' conference is now its general secretary Bishop Nunzio Galatino Cassano all'Jonio. But the real authority behind this is Pope Francis, who raised Galatino into office and monitors each of his decisions.
The Galatino's first official act after his audience with Pope Francis was the dismissal of the former media officer of the Italian Bishops' Conference , Dino Boffo, who  had been hired by Cardinal Camillo Ruini. Boffo was chief editor of the daily newspaper of the Episcopal Conference "Avvenire" and for three years editor of TV2000, the television station of the bishops with a significantly increasing number of spectators. [Sorry, you’re too successful.?]

Media Work of the Bishops' Conference for Months without Leadership

That was on the 14th of February, so for more than two months. Since then, the entire communication channel of the Episcopal Conference was not controlled without giving word for  a reason for the dismissal of Boffo.
If on instead focuses attention within the Vatican walls, one finds there are still figures with full honors in the saddle that would have been sealed in every  other company long ago.

Advisor to the Pope and the Vatican Bank

These include the members of the Supervisory Board of the Vatican Bank IOR, in other words, the Gang of Four, which brutally sacked the then President of the Vatican Bank, Ettore Gotti Tedeschi  on 24 May 2012.
Not only that Pope Francis followed the advice of the four and ensured the continued existence of the Vatican Bank, although he had repeatedly indicated its dissolution in the previous months. The Pope leaves the Vatican Bank to work as the four want.
The new course of Pope Bergoglio is still not deciphered yet.

Pope Francis Like a "Steam Roller and Decides Everything Himself" --- Curious Request for "Forgiveness"

(Rome) Pope Francis appointed a new Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference on the day before Christmas Eve. Even in the first month of his pontificate, the pope had asked the Italian bishops to draw up new statutes for the Episcopal Conference. While the bishops' conferences choose their own president and even determine their term of office (an exception is Belgium), in Italy the Pope as Bishop of Rome is also automatically chairman of the Bishops' Conference. However, this office, since its introduction by Pius XII, was never exercised by the reigning pope. He appoints a delegate that represents him as chairman. The right of appointment for the Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference is to also exercised by the Pope. The Italian bishops called on the new Pope to inform him whether the Chair and the Secretary General should continue to be appointed by the Pope, or whether they want to occupy these offices by election itself. Despite this request, the Pope goes "forward like a steam roller and decides everything himself," said Vaticanist Sandro Magister.

"Steamroller" Francis - Surprise Dismissal of General Secretary

Pope Francis unceremoniously dismissed the previous Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference, Mariano Crociata and has appointed him as the bishop of the small Diocese of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priveno, which is th equivalent to the pushing him off to an insignificant place off the tracks. Bishop Crociata was appointed in 2008 by Benedict XVI. as Secretary General after he had previously been appointed as the Bishop of Nota.

On 28 December the announcement of the new Secretary-General was accomplished in an "entirely uncharacteristic way," said Magister. To appoint him instead of being in accordance with current regulations, that is, on the Bureau's proposal and after consulting the Permanent Council of the Bishops' Conference, Pope Francis appointed him arbitrarily and without consultation. But he did so with an unusual accessory, as if he were "asking permission" of the priests and faithful of the Diocese of the new Secretary General, the Pope literally said he would "took away" the bishop. This "request for permission" was of course rhetorical, formulated by the Pope in a "daring rhetorical construct" (Sandro Magister) in an open letter to the diocese. Clearly part of the current leadership of the Italian Bishops' Conference, consisting of Archbishop Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco of Genoa and the Archbishops of Perugia, Potenza and Turin (the General Secretary, also a member of the Presidium, already being discharged), are not among of the most important interlocutors of the Pope.

Pope Asked the Diocese for "Permission" to be able to Appoint the Bishop to General Secretary

The newly appointed Secretary General is Bishop Nunzio Galatino Cassano all'Jonio. The 65-year-old bishop comes from Puglia. His diocese is located in Calabria and, with nearly 100,000 faithful to the smallest of the Apennine Peninsula. It's also unusual in the appointment is that it takes place only after an interim. It seems unclear whether it served as the removal of Bishop Crociata, or whether the did not anticipate Pope making a possible amendment of statutes of the Episcopal Conference, if he wants the bishops to appoint the Secretary-General themselves in the future. In this case, the question remains, why a change was made at this time. Secretary Galatino will remain at his own request a bishop of his diocese.

In his published letter to the diocese, the Pope asked the priests and faithful to permit their bishop "at least for a certain time for an important mission for the Italian Church" to go to Rome. He will, however, continue to be their bishop as the Pope declared that he would spend "a few days on a regular basis" in the diocese.

Pope Francis: "I Ask You to Understand Me ... and to Forgive Me"

"I ask you to understand me ... and to forgive me," the Pope wrote this at the end of the letter, dated 28 December, but it came into force immediately without waiting for a response from them even though the matter was raised in a rhetorical effort to priests and faithful.

The Bishops' Conference noted the unilateral action of the pope with two tight, cool press releases.

Msgr, Galatino was consecrated a bishop on 25 February and took over the management of his diocese. He is Professor of Anthropology at the Faculty of Theology for Southern Italy. In the Episcopal Conference, he was previously responsible for higher theological studies.

Upon his appointment ad interim, Bishop Galatino will undertake the rights, duties and responsibilities of the office of General Secretary, of the Italian Episcopal Conference, yet it is unknown how long the term of office will be, however. Pope Benedict XVI. had appointed Archbishop Bagnasco of Genoa as as his delegate and President of the Bishops Conference in 2007. He chose Bishop Crociata as Secretary General.

With the appointment of the new Secretary-General, a similar pattern can be determined in the Pope's approach in personnel decisions, that were repeatedly employed already in the Roman Curia. Also, the unexpected dismissal of Cardinal Bagnasco's General Secretary appears to be an indicator that the President of the Bishops' Conference may also be dismissed.
